Gators Bump Off Brahmas to Advance to Quarterfinals

Recap of Series: Game 1 - Thomas Houle was stellar on the mound in game 1. He pitched 5.1 innings giving up 3 hits and stuck out 4. Simeon Harmon had a sacrifice fly to score the first run of the game. Chris Varjlen followed that with a rbi single to right field that would prove to be the game winning run. Noah Krieger took over on the mound striking out 2 to close out the game.

Game 2- Krieger pitched 6 outstanding innings but the Gators fell short 3-1 forcing game 3.

Game 3- The finale was a 10 inning thriller. Cole Johnson pitched 5 innings and gave up only 1 run before reaching his pitch max. Thomas Houle came in and pitched a scoreless inning but also reached his pitch max for the series. Gabe Dixon relieved Houle and pitched 4 gutsy innings. In the top of the 10th Sawyer scott lead off the inning with a single to left field. With 2 outs Courtesy runner Jackson Bohmann scored on a passed ball to put the Gators up 3-2. Gabe Dixon’s 5th Strikeout in the bottom of the 10th inning secured the 3-2 win for the Gators as the team stormed the field!

The Gators now advance to the Region IV Quarter Finals vs. the Yoakum Bulldogs beginning this Thursday at 6 p.m. Other games to follow include a 6 p.m. game on Friday, and, if necessary, a third game at 2 p.m. on Saturday. All will be played at LaGrange High School.
