Social and Emotional Needs Counseling
I hope that you and your family enjoyed a relaxing summer.
I am Ms. Liz Guidry, M.S. the K-12 Social Emotional Needs Counselor here at Gateway College Prep. We have also recently hired Rosemary Kelly as a part time social emotional needs counselor.
My goal for this school year is to help all students feel like they Belong to our Gateway Prep family and to have a successful academic year.
Parents, please feel free to contact me if you have concerns about your child’s social-emotional well-being.
You may also call the front office at 512-868-4947 and leave a message. I will respond during my office hours of 7:30pm-4:00pm.
For students, there will be "Request to see the Counselor" forms (CLICK HERE). These forms will also be either with the teachers or outside of my office door (Building 5, Rm 57). The form can then be placed into the drop off box. **If it is urgent, student should let a teacher know immediately.

Counseling Approaches and Background
Ms. Liz Guidry is in her 5th year as a certified professional school counselor. She uses the approach in working with students that our thoughts cause our feelings and behaviors, not people or situations. Many students, with the assistance of the counselor, are able to change their behavior while working together towards a healthy goal, even if the situation does not change. This approach is based on the Cognitive Behavior Therapy model.
